Inner emptiness/void

It is human nature to become attached or too attached to things or people. It can be very difficult to find out how to let go from these attachments even if we know that they are not good for us. Our spiritual ancestors even went so far as saying that our addictive behavior is the root of all suffering. This is a very strong insight into our human condition!

Why is it so difficult to let go? Why is it so hard to let go of an ex-lover, an abusive relationship, a mortgage that is no longer sustainable, a life style that is no longer affordable? Could it be that most of us suffer from a feeling of inner emptiness that we are trying to fill with our various attachments – often without much success.

We may indulge in desserts, cling to social media, or over extend our budget by shopping/ buying merchandise that we cannot afford or need – on credit. Could it be that we are trying to fill a void/emptiness that we do not know exist? None of this will fill our inner emptiness.
